CEO's Message

A personal letter from Assaf Nahuom, CEO of ACUM.

Assaf Nahuom

CEO, ACUM

Dear Members,

Creators, composers, lyricists, music editors - they are the ones who give Israeli culture its voice. Every song, every melody, every word - is the fruit of labor and soul. When a work is played on the radio, shown on television, performed at a business, or distributed on a digital platform - the creator deserves fair compensation. This is not merely an economic matter; it is recognition that human creation has value.

ACUM was founded decades ago from this simple recognition. And with every passing year, the challenge becomes more complex - but our commitment to you remains clear and unwavering.

As CEO, I see my role not only as managing an organization, but as carrying a trust. Your trust - that the royalties owed to you will actually reach you, that your rights are enforced, that someone is fighting for you even while you are busy creating. This trust is not taken for granted, and it obliges us to act with transparency, determination and accountability.

Recent years have brought challenges previously unknown. Artificial intelligence, streaming, digital platforms - all are changing the way music reaches ears. Too often, technological change moves faster than the regulation that protects creators. We are here to bridge that gap - in Knesset committees, in courts, and in negotiations with some of the world's largest platforms.

I am proud that ACUM was among the first in the world to openly discuss the issue of AI and creation. The question of whether it is permissible to train a computer on human works without consent and compensation - is not merely a technical question. It is a question of values and of dignity. And we do not intend to let it slip through the cracks.

I want you to know: we are working. For you. Every day.

On a personal note -

Years ago, when I began my path in the field of copyright, I understood there was a huge gap between cold regulation and the real lives of creators. Behind every work there is a person - with rent to pay, with children, with dreams. That is why I refuse to see this role as a bureaucratic job. It is a mission.

My door is always open to listen, to learn and to act. We are here for you.

With great respect and deep appreciation,

Assaf Nahuom

CEO, ACUM

"

"Israeli creators are the soul of our culture. Our role at ACUM is not only to collect royalties - but to be a guardian, a partner and a growth engine for every creator, at every stage of their journey. We are here to ensure that Israeli creation remains alive, protected and valued."

- Assaf Nahuom, CEO of ACUM

Pillars of Our Vision

Protecting Creators' Livelihoods

ACUM works tirelessly to ensure that every creator receives the royalties they deserve. Every use of a work - on radio, television, the internet, businesses and performances - requires fair payment to rights holders.

Legal & Legislative Advocacy

We work in the Knesset, in committees and in courts to block legislation that harms creators. Our fight against attempts to exempt thousands of commercial entities from paying royalties proves that we stand behind every creator.

Preparing for the AI Revolution

Artificial intelligence is transforming the world of creation. ACUM is leading a process to regulate the use of human works for AI model training, and is fighting to ensure creators receive fair compensation in this new era as well.

A Modern, Digital Organization

We are in a continuous process of modernization - improving reporting systems, shortening distribution times, full transparency and developing digital tools that will allow creators to manage their rights easily and quickly.

ACUM in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

The technological revolution brought by artificial intelligence is the greatest challenge facing the creators' community in recent decades. AI models are trained on billions of human works - often without permission and without compensation. Assaf Nahuom led a public forum with ACUM members in 2024 for an open discussion on the subject, and is driving a clear policy: any use of Israeli works for AI training requires consent and payment. ACUM coordinates action with international copyright societies to advance global standards that protect creators.

"ACUM is not just a society - it is the home of every creator in Israel. We operate from a deep belief that Israeli creation deserves to flourish, and that the next generation of our creators will be able to live with dignity from their work."
